Moose Shiras

The Shiras is the smallest of the North American Moose and are located in a number of Western states. The licenses for these animals are highly desired and extremely limited. Each state uses a draw system to allocate the limited tags, but Utah also offers transferable landowner vouchers. In the great state of Wyoming we have handpicked two outfitters that spend the summer months keeping track of the largest antlered bulls in their units. Wyoming utilizes a lottery draw system to allocate the limited entry tags for each unit. However, the top producing units that our outfitters scout typically take many points to draw.

In Utah we work with an outfitter with many years of experience and access to some of the best ranches. The access to these properties assures that our hunters take quality bulls and have great adventures. The moose tags are either won in random draw system or purchased through a landowner voucher program. These vouchers add substantial cost to the hunt but assure that you hunt Shiras Moose without waiting to draw a tag.

Northern Colorado produces some great Shiras bulls and has a healthy moose population. Our outfitter knows these areas well and guides clients to some of the largest bulls taken in Colorado each season. Colorado uses a point system for the non-resident draw licenses. 

Idaho consistently has the best Shiras draw tag odds in the West. But recent wolf problems have caused some stress to the population and can affect your hunt. It is best to talk with O.A.S. before applying for any Idaho moose tags.
