NWT Dall Sheep

The Mackenzie Mountains of the Northwest Territories in known by sheep hunters all over the world as the premier hunting destination for trophy class Dall Sheep. With a high density of legal rams, this area produces many stalking opportunities during your adventure. With over 30 years of outfitting experience in this pristine wilderness and consistently producing 100% success on rams, this outfitter is arguably the best in the business. Our outfitter utilizes a helicopter to access remote areas and drop you and your guide close to targeted rams. The outfitter is constantly scouting for rams which equates to clients hunting the largest rams in the area. Some guides utilize packdogs to help carry some of the additional weight leaving the hunter with only his own hunting gear (15-30 lbs.).

Hunters regularly harvest rams averaging 10 years of age with an average 37” horn length. Many clients are able to take rams eligible for the Pope and Young and Boone and Crockett record books. The 100% success rate includes archery, muzzleloader, handgun, and rifle hunters. Dall Sheep hunts are 10-12 days of hunting with 1x1 and 1x2 guiding available. With a healthy population of Mountain Caribou and Wolf in the area many clients elect to add these species to their NWT adventure. Sheep season opens on July 15 with combination hunts starting in late July and run through late September.

A charter flight takes you from Norman Wells to an established base camp, from there outfitter provides helicopter bush flights. Spike camps will consist of backpacking tents which allows you to stay mobile throughout your hunt. O.A.S. will assist you in planning and executing this wilderness hunt along with providing advice on gear and training.
